Last year singer Sonu Nigam stirred a debate over the use of loud speakers in mosques, when the singer tweeted about waking up to the Azaan. After which Sonu Nigam faced the wrath of many Muslim outfits followed by which the singer even went on to shave his head. Now the debate has once again breathed afresh. Writer Javed Akhtar too lent his support to the matter asking for a ban on loudspeakers used at any place of worship.
“This is to put on record that I totally agree with all those including Sonu Nigam who want that Loud speakers should not be used by the mosques and for that matter by any place of worship in residential areas,” Javed Akhtar wrote in his tweet.

Akhtar’s tweet, too, didn’t please quite a few. However, the veteran stuck to his stand.
@SonuNigamForum is the most unfamiliar person in india and secondly i disagree with ur statement. Thirdly its not cool taking attentions by such tweets. So do and give RESPECT to every religion. Azaan dil ka skoon hai. #Peace

We need peace in India so please don’t give such controversial comments about any religious. Thank you— Abutalib Tawhidi (@AbutalibTawhidi) February 8, 2018
Dear Sir, we all know that your era is ending and we want to bid farewell to you with good wishes. Then why do you use such topics to come into light when you know that Azaan is for 1-2 mins. Please understand the country runs on law and not on your logic.

Sonu Nigham also faced immense flak from religious extremists for voicing his views on social media, besides a few who understood his expression about religion and patriotism. He had even quit Twitter due to this raging controversy.
