STXfilms has just released the first trailer for The Foreigner. The action thriller film starring Jackie Chan and Pierce Brosnan. Directed by Casino Royale’s Martin Campbell.

The Foreigner is based on the 1992 Stephen Leather book The Chinaman.
By looking at the trailer, film, The Foreigner looks promising, yet much more intense and violent Jackie Chan film than those we have come to know him for. Very Taken-ish sort of, down to the fact that it’s his daughter’s death that Chan’s avenging.
Chan seems to play a character named Quan, a man whose daughter is killed in a terrorist attack. On a mission for revenge, he finds Gerry Adams (an impressively Irish-accented Pierce Brosnan), a high-ranking politician with previous ties to the IRA. Quan, on the other hand is on a one-man mission for the identity of the bombers, and suspects Adams knows more than he’s letting on.
The Foreigner is set to release on October 13th.
