Is your hobby your therapy?

Many people have different interests and hobbies which they love spending and investing their time in. These hobbies help them in staying busy keeping their mind occupied into something they truly love and enjoy doing.

Equivalently, my all-time favorite thing to do in my leisure time is cooking; it’s not just my hobby but also my passion. Cooking has always been my go-to option when I am sad, indolent or just idle. It has been really therapeutic for me during my tough times as it helps me calm down and sooth my anger. I love trying out new recipes and recreating dishes, the spices and the aroma of cooked dishes really drifts me away and leaves me gob smacked.

The sight of looking at colorful vegetables and chopping them into bits, mixing it with meat and seasonings is what I enjoy doing the most. As I am a crazy foodie, cooking motivates me to cook more delicious and well-presented dishes so I can end up eating it all later on. During this pandemic, I have been really jaded and had nothing to do so I made sure I keep myself busy with my hobby for e.g. I have cooked Singaporean rice, flat bread pizza, and chicken pie and recreated various dishes which turned out to be amazing.

Everybody needs a therapy in one way or another, cooking turned out to be the best solution for me at all times. What about you?

Maybe a small easy to make dessert recipe can help you so I’ll drop one below which is my own and also my personal favorite.

Ingredients needed for a Chocolate Mug cake:

  • Flour ¼ cup
  • Unsweetened coco powder 2 tbsp
  • Baking powder ¼ tsp
  • Granulated sugar 3 tbsp
  • Salt 1/8 tsp
  • Milk ¼ cup + 1 tbsp
  • Vegetable oil 2 tbsp
  • Chocolate chips 1 tbsp

Method:

Step 01: In a medium bowl, mix together the dry ingredients. Then whisk in the oil, milk and combine together.

Step 02: Pour batter into a microwave safe mug, which could be a little more than half full to give the cake enough space to rise without pouring over.

Step 03: Add mini chocolate chips on the top of the batter.

Step 04: Microwave 70 seconds on high, Take it out and see if it is thoroughly cooked, otherwise for 20 seconds more.

Step 05: Decorate as you like it and enjoy your mouth watering dessert!
