Uzma Ahmed, an Indian girl fell in love with a Pakistani taxi driver, Tahir Ali when she met him in Malaysia. Along with him, she went to Buner, one of the remotest parts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. After reaching there she came to know that Tahir was already married with four kids. However, she was forced to get married on a gunpoint.
Filmmakers Sameer Dixit, Jatish Varma and Girish Johar have acquired the rights of Uzma’s story and will be making it into a film. And now, according to a report in a tabloid, Saif Ali Khan has been roped in to play a pivotal role in the film. The actor will be seen playing the role of JP Singh, India’s then Deputy High Commissioner in Islamabad, who under the guidance of then External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj had got Uzma back to India.
A source said, “When the team met for a narration Saif instantly liked the script. He has agreed to be a part of the project and will be sporting a very different look in the film, which is expected to roll in February-March next year. The makers are currently looking to cast an A-list actress to play Uzma.”
The story of the film will be written by Ritesh Shah and it will be directed by Shivam Nair who had helmed Taapsee Pannu starrer Naam Shabana. The source said, “The film will have an ensemble cast and Shivam has already begun pre-production. Recce is also scheduled to begin shortly.”
Uzma Ahmed’s story is surely quite interesting and through a movie people will come to know about her struggle. It will be interesting to see which actress will be roped in to play Uzma Ahmed.
Meanwhile, Saif Ali Khan is currently busy with the shooting of Jawaani Jaaneman in London. He also has some other amazing projects like Laal Kaptaan, Taanaji: The Unsung Warrior and Bhoot Police in his kitty. His fans are also waiting for the second season of Sacred Games.
