The internet will shut down for a whole day!

Internet, around the world, is going to shut down for 24 hours owing to a massive DDos (Distributed Denial of Service) attack underway, reveals US technology security vendor LogRhythm.

With increasing cyber-attacks and security glitches around the world, we can already expect think-tanks to be working on something big and massive. Just when we thought that there might be an end to cyber threats, the news has been going viral that internet around the world is going to shut down for 24 hours straight.

This must come as a shocker to many, but there is no doubt that this news carries leverage and we can already expect a disaster heading our way. In this day and age, when one cannot expect to live a single second without staying in touch with technology; a whole day without internet seems like a far cry.

James Carder, Chief information security officer and Vice President of LogRhythm, who has predicated the doomsday for internet aficionados, has stated that the cause behind full-scale internet shutdown will not be a mere technical or software glitch, but a “large-scale cyberattack”.

Mr. Carder warned:

“In 2017, we’re going to see it hit big sometime, somewhere. If the internet goes down, financial markets will tank.”

LogRhythm, which deals with security information and software event management, has projected that there were signs throughout 2016 which depicted that online criminals were “testing missiles, by shooting them into the ocean.” In simpler words, hackers and the likes were getting prepared to launch something massive and out of the ordinary.

James Carder further cautioned by putting up the recent cyber-attack example:

“We saw the massive DDoS against DynDNS just a couple of months ago. That DDoS attack took down sites like Twitter and Spotify for a few hours. We saw a similar DDoS hit Brian Krebs before the attack against Dyn.

“The power of influence is starting to shift away from mainstream news outlets, and I don’t think that is something those mainstream outlets can afford to let happen.

“They will respond to the fake-news threat by trying to implement some level of media control that will likely take it a little too far.

“I think hackers, in the name of protecting our freedom of speech, will retaliate by knocking down a major media outlet or two.”

What comes to the mind of an average internet geek is that; “Will we really be able to bounce back from such a disaster”? We, for sure, don’t know where this world is heading; because when it comes to internet, we cannot trust anyone. Right? But, as you have been cautioned of the impending “End of the Internet World”, go through your online accounts now so that you don’t lose anything important. Till then, let me find ways on “internet” on how to survive a day without it!
