Is India Doing Enough To Protect Women?

Two years back an Indian photographer sparked debate through an outrageous fashion shoot that depicts a woman being harassed on a bus by a group of men, echoing a fatal gang-rape. The pictures show a female model in high-end fashion looking harassed on a bus in various poses.

In one image she is on the floor with a man standing over her,one shows her struggling with two men gripping her arms, and in another two men pin her down on the seats.

Is India Doing Enough To Protect Women?

Is this the right way to glamorize an act? No! The dress codes we have are promoting rape culture and enforcing a mindset of “don’t get raped” instead of “don’t rape” in the first place. We should have a right to express ourselves through the way we dress, but because of the way society has molded itself, we got that privilege taken away.

It’s not okay to glamorize violence against women. Fashion industry and people who represent them are major contributors in changing the mindset of the youth.

When will these gross attention seeking antics and bad display of racism and harassment end?
