“I always wanted to add Nick’s last name to mine” – Priyanka Chopra Jonas

Priyanka Chopra Jonas surprised everyone when she took Nick’s last name, but she says she’s ‘traditional’ that way.

On the Tonight show with Jimmy Fallon, the Bollywood actor spoke about her name change, her big fat Indian wedding and whose idea was it to get married in India anyway?

“Every time someone says that, my face goes a little like, ‘Oh, that happened,’ ” she said when Jimmy introduced her as Priyanka Chopra Jonas on the show. “It’s a big deal! I didn’t realize it was that much of a big deal until I did it.”

But she says it’s something she always wanted. “I always wanted to add his last name to mine because I feel like we’re becoming family,” she told Fallon. “I’m a little traditional and old-school like that.”

The Quantico star feels that this way, “I don’t take away my identity, he gets added to who I am.”

Their wedding location, was in fact her husband’s idea. “Nick just said, ‘Why aren’t we doing this in India? Shouldn’t I be taking my bride from her home?'” In the midst of looking at remote islands for a destination wedding, Priyanka’s home became the ideal choice.

In fact, he went all in and chose a turban with a feather turban. “He really rocked that turban. It’s hard to rock a turban with a feather!”

Their sangeet, which Priyanka explains to Fallon is “a rehearsal dinner, but not boring”, was nothing less than the Filmfare Awards with both teams competing heavily to win – you guessed it – an actual trophy. “It’s a competition and because we’re really extra, we had a giant trophy and it looked like Coachella.” She added that Nick was very competitive. “He literally came out of a cake.”

“They brought it in such a big way,” said Priyanka of Team Jonas, it left her shocked.
