HSY splits from Lux Style Awards

The 17th edition of the Lux Style Awards, Pakistan’s longest-running contemporary award ceremony, is all set to take place in Lahore next month. The mission of the LSAs is to recognize and celebrate talent from the fields of music, fashion, film and television. And the nominations announced for the upcoming edition reflect just that.

Apart from the nominees being announced news that has mingled the minds of many is of Hassan Shehryar Yasin (HSY) not being the show director for this year’s event.

The designer and creative director had directed the LSAs for the first time last year and it was assumed that he would continue with the job this time around as he was spectacular at what he did. The Lux Style Awards last year was a huge success.

The news about the King of couture parting ways with the biggest Awards of the industry raised a lot of questions. Whereas recently during a conversation with Dawn Images HSY expressed, “I have built my career over a span of 24 years and a certain quality and creativity is associated with my work. For several months now I had been chalking out my plans for the LSAs but I was recently informed that I would have to work with a much lower budget than I had had last year. We went back and forth with budget changes and concept changes and inevitably I realized that I could not attach my name with a show that did not depict my vision.”

The Lux Style Awards will be held on February 21st. At this critical time of need for social awakening, the Awards aim to use the platform for the industry to stand in solidarity with the nation.
