How to Deal with Frizzy Hair on a Humid Day!

Humidity can cause mayhem on your hair if you let it. Fortunately, even a minor variation in your hair care regimen can contain your puffy hair; products made specifically for this purpose as well as home remedies are a huge help. If you don’t want to settle with poofy, unruly hair on a humid day, you needn’t worry any longer! Here are some things you can do to tame that mane!

Get the right haircut!

If you live in a place that is identified by its humid weather, contemplate getting a haircut that accommodates your hair type. Long hair and straight cuts add the weightiness needed to pull down hair that would puff out if cut short.

An angled or layered cut is likely to eliminate some of the bulk. A layered cut although would emphasize curls, however, it could result in puffier hair, so maybe steer clear of that if you want to flaunt ‘dem curls!

Shampoo alternate days!

Shampoo is perfect for washing dust and grime away from your hair, but it’s not so ideal if you want to tame puffy hair.

That’s primarily because shampoo strips your hair of its natural oils, making your hair silky, light, and unfortunately puffy.

Some people don’t shampoo for a whole week. Although the exact amount of time is totally your call, the consensus is that waiting a couple days between washes results in healthier, less puffy hair.

Wash off conditioner with cold water!

There has been some dispute about how effective this really is, but the idea is pretty basic: cold water makes the cuticles of the hair contract, concurrently m making it shiny and frizz-free.

Some researchers, however, doubt the efficiency of cold water on the scalp, claiming that since hair cuticles aren’t living cells, they can’t really contract.

The debate aside, this trick doesn’t really cause puffy hair, so give it a whirl and see if it works for you.

Dry hair gently!

If your hair is prone to fly-aways and frizz, carefully dab-dry your hair with the towel instead of vigorously rubbing. Allowing hair to air-dry as much as possible is likely to reduce puffiness in your hair.

Avoid excessive movement with the dryer when blow-drying your hair. With slowly and in smaller sections on the lowest heat setting, for better results.

Remember to blow down the shaft of hair instead of across it, which causes the hair sections to separate, or upward, which uplifts and volumizes but also causes frizz and puffiness. Blow-drying also dehydrates hair causing frizz.

Avoid over-combing!

It’s tempting to brush your hair till it’s silky and smooth after stepping out of the shower, but brushing or combing your hair too much causes friction, which causes breakage. This leads to puffy or frizzy hair.

Instead of combing your hair with a tight comb, use a wide-toothed comb or perhaps a paddle brush with ball-tipped ends.

Finish up with your fingers as a comb-through for your hair to set it how you like.

Work with your natural hair texture!

In humid weather, your hair tends to do what it wants, naturally.

Fighting your hair type will likely cause you a great deal of frustration; chances are you’ll lose every time.

If your hair is straight, avoid curling it on humid days. If your hair is naturally curly or wavy, make the waves work in your favor instead of opting for a straight style.

Try an updo like a bun or a ponytail and apply some anti-frizz gel for fly-aways.
