As humans we tend to have different fears in life and most of us don’t even overcome those fears. We keep living with our fears from our childhood and we’re not even aware of them. I’m gonna talk about how can we overcome those fears. When we think about fear, it is most often attributed to feelings of unease or anxiousness, a feeling that arises in response to something that our brains perceive as dangerous or that makes us feel unsafe. In the larger emotional reaction that is fear. The biggest fear out of those are the fear of failure, fear of not being good enough and fear of disappointing others.
Firstly let’s talk about the fear archetypes:
- The procrastinator
- The people pleaser
- The self doubter
- The outcast
- Excuse maker
- The pessimist
- The rule follower
I’m pretty sure you fit in one of the categories above like, I do. Firstly we need to identify in what category we fit in. I fit in the category of the people pleaser and the rule follower.
I’ve always feared being rejected and that’s why I’ve always wanted to please people and make them happy no matter what. I always wanted everyone around me to like me and honestly now I understand that this is not possible. There are gonna be people who won’t like you no matter how nice you are to them and I’ve accepted this reality. I mean why do we care so much about others that we start fearing them? I’m not saying we shouldn’t care about anyone but ourselves, I’m just saying we need to prioritise ourselves and our mental health, we need to respect and love ourselves enough to not care about wanting anyone’s validation. We shouldn’t lower our self esteem for people who don’t respect us having said that, we simply need to overcome our fears by accepting them, identifying them and then facing them. We need to see those moments of fears as opportunities. We need to practice mindfulness and focus on the emotions and feelings behind our fears. Positive thinking is a must, gather positive thoughts and that’ll take the focus off of the fears. Negative thinking leads to depression and fears. Believe in yourself and understand that no one is you and that is your superpower. You’ll conquer your fears by being truly happy and content in life.
