This hijaab wearing model is breaking all the stereotypes

Halima Aden, hijaab wearing model who went from Miss Minnesota U.S.A. pageant contestant to a spearhead for cultural inclusiveness in fashion and beauty. She is the first Somali-American model to become a semifinalist and being recognized of her daring step. She was signed by IMG modeling agency and then never looked back, she made her debut at New York fashion week in February 2017 and now she will be judging Miss USA 2017.

Halima wants to work for a purpose, she wants to inspire all the dark looking women as she remembers what it felt like when you don’t have any public figure to idolize. “One of my teachers told me to draw the Disney princess who I could most relate to, and there wasn’t one. It hit me at a young age—that made me question whether or not I was good enough. Each princess had a heroic story, but I didn’t have one. I took it very hard.”
