Are you a fan of this famous Netflix show Patriot Act by Hassan Minhaj? This maybe the saddest news for you guys. After six long seasons, the show about the unfiltered truth comes to an end. The show premiered in 2018, the year after Minhaj gave a speech at the White House Correspondents Association dinner which was not only praised but ended up into a show like this.
The news was official after the host Hassan Minhaj took to Twitter to bid goodbye to fans on Tuesday morning. He says, “What a run. Patriot Act has come to an end,” he announced. “I got to work with the best writers, producers, researchers, and animators in the game. My 2 babies were born and grew up with the show. Thank you to Netflix and everyone who watched. Now it’s time to return these screens to Best Buy.”
After the tweet the audience was surprised, sad and most of all angry. This show was hit not only because of it’s unfiltered truth and social commentary but because many of the South Asians especially Indian-Muslim born to immigrant parents could relate to it.
To bring back the show, the loyal fans have now signed a Change.org petition which has already been made over 6500 fans signatures.
The show also won a Peabody Award and an Emmy for Outstanding Motion Design. Its existing 39 episodes will be available to stream on Netflix. This news is surely sad but who haven’t watched this show, they definitely should.
