Cyber pirates hack “Pirates of the Caribbean” sequel, threaten to leak it online

An extremely bad news for all the Pirates of the Caribbean fans waiting for the sequel Dead Men Tell No Tales out there. As per the reports out of Hollywood, Disney Chief Bob Iger has revealed that hackers have claimed to have access of the company’s up and coming movie. They have been demanding huge ransom in return.

The cyber hackers have attentioned that the money be paid to them in online currency Bitcoin and are threatening to release five minutes of the movie, followed by 20-minute segments until the ransom is delivered.

Though the Disney chief did not reveal what film had been stolen, the famous international movie website Deadline termed the movie as “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales”. The film is slated to release on 26th May. On the other hand, some sources have been speculating that Pixar’s Car 3, expected to launch next month, might be the target of this unwanted attack.

Similarly, in a meeting held between employees at Disney-owned ABC headquarters’, it has been rumoured that Iger has claimed to not give in to the demands of ransom. Moreover, the reports have also stated that the media giant is currently work with FIA to track out the blackmailers and to monitor the movie that could be leaked online.

Previously, with the spike in cyber attacks, hackers attacked Netflix and leaked 10 episodes of Orange is the New Black.
