During this economic crisis we see everyone scrounging for resources, trying to provide for their families or merely just to survive on their own. foodpanda brings forth an amazing opportunity for us to make a substantial living while we remain homebound during this pandemic. This, being a remarkable attempt to enable the people towards economic empowerment, has established foodpanda as more than just a food delivery app.
The initiative called HomeChefs has taken on board a thousand chefs and with a whopping 3000 meals a day, completed 2.1 lac orders to date. With 60% of their chefs being women, they are not only providing employment opportunities, but also promoting the agenda of women’s empowerment.
With the goal of keeping every kitchen in Pakistan lit, foodpanda is inviting 100,000 home based cooks to sign up and become a part of HomeChefs initiative.
Not only has foodpanda launched this noteworthy initiative, they have stepped up to produce and circulate COVID19 awareness messages, videos about personal hygiene & provided safety kits. In addition to this, over 750 home-cooked meals were delivered by the MOM-force for our brave & heroic health care workers who are helping us fight through this pandemic with everything they have.
foodpanda has also funded a 2.4 Million worth project with the Government of Punjab’s skill development Fund to train & empower 50 underprivileged women as foodpanda HomeChefs. With USAID onboard as their education partner, they have strived to encourage women-led SMEA businesses by conducting 4 sessions across 6 cities with 52 Homechefs.
As if that wasn’t enough, foodpanda has sponsored a “Opportunities for Women” segment attended by over 300 women & has also celebrated their most successful woman HomeChef by molding her into an inspiring success story, conducting her interview on stage and on LIVE TV & by flying her out to the prestigious Pakistan Stock Exchange bell ringing ceremony on Women’s Day.
