The shortest international commercial flight was seen this month between Switzerland’s St. Gallan-Altenrhein and Germany’s Friedrichshafen airports.
The journey time? Just 8 minutes.
The flight is served by Embraer regional jets, being the actual first leg of a prolonged route that ends in Cologne.
Only 10% of the forecast annual, carrying 40,000 passengers, are said to take the shorter leg between Altenrhein and Friedrichshafen, said Danel Steffen, CEO of People’s Viennaline.
“But this stopover will benefit both tourists and commuters working on both sides of the lake and, of course, it is also likely to become a must in every aviation enthusiast’s logbook,” he adds.
