Filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy receives honorary degree

And once again the lady has outdone herself with yet another moment of pride. Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, the Canadian-Pakistani filmmaker and activist, has now been awarded with an honorary degree from USA based institute Smith College.

It was a privilege to be back at @smithcollege this weekend to receive an honorary degree, and to be part of the pageantry and excitement of a ceremony that celebrates the achievements of its students. Congratulations #classof2018!

Sharmeen Ubaid was honoured for her exemplary work and ongoing efforts to bring out the sufferings of an individual through her work in the field of documentary journalism, giving hand to promote human rights. Previously, the film-maker was honoured with her bachelor’s degree in Economics and Government from the university.

Pakistan’s two-time Academy Award winner released the nation’s first virtual reality film series titled, ‘Look But With Love’ last year. The documentary is a five-part series and is meant to be played at the upcoming 55th New York Film Festival.
