While we eagerly wait for Fawad Khan’s The Legend of Maula Jatt to see the light of day, here’s good news for the actor’s fandom. Fawad will be making his next big screen appearance with his TLMJ co-star Gohar Rasheed, but in a completely different avatar in Teefa in Trouble actor Faisal Qureshi’s debut directorial, Money Back Guarantee (MBG).
“Faisal has roped in heartthrob Fawad Khan to play the main lead. MBG is said to be a laugh riot, in the genre of satirical comedy. It is a family film for the masses and is not just being directed by Faisal but has also been written by him,” a source close to the project told us.
That’s not all; it seems that Faisal is gearing up for a cast coup as Fawad will be joined by Gohar Rasheed, Kiran Malik of Pinky Memsaab fame, Mikaal Zulfiqar, former cricketer Wasim Akram, Mani and Afzal Khan (aka Jan Rambo).
Wasim, who has earlier done several TV commercials with Faisal, will be making his acting debut. Gohar will be seen playing a very different character from his previous film stints.
The list of celebrities for special appearances is no less impressive as Wasim Akram’s wife Shaniera has also been approached for a guest role. Some reports also claim that the makers are trying to rope in Mahira Khan as well.
A report in Gulf News suggests that the cricketer will be playing a small but significant role in the film; “He plays nemesis to Fawad Khan’s hero. A bank robbery is also a part of the plot. What, perhaps, is more interesting is that the ladies in the film don’t necessarily play love interest to any of the male leads.”
Faisal, who was last seen in Teefa in Trouble, will also be acting in his movie. “The shoot will begin in November in Karachi. However, team MBG is expected to fly to Thailand for the second spell,” the source told us.
The film is scheduled for a 2020 release.
