Fashion Pakistan Week winter festive 17 day two started off with fresh positive vibes as we witnessed some renowned faces on the red carpet including few celebrities and of course our favourite designers!
The house was full of guests, which is a proof in itself that people still love fashion weeks and it was indeed was the happening night.
The genius designers showcased their best and trendiest collection of the season. The line-up of day two was quite artistic and perfectly managed. Of course who could have been a better choice to open the show other than Sanam Chaudhry followed by super talented Wardha Saleem, Emraan Rajput, Sadaf Malaterre, HEM and finale was done by Deepak Perwani.
Sanam Chaudhri – Pandora
Her Pandora collection featured silhouettes inspired by late 80’s to early 90’s power couture, an audacious juxtaposition of starkly masculine and liltingly feminine lines; edgy jackets with fluid shalwars, bold shouldered peplum coats and fluid pleated skirts, umbrella cut capes and wide leg pants. There was a mix of long flares, elegant flowey tails and floral embellishments on the sleeves and hems of super stylish shirts. The fresh colours such as parrot green and greyish blue made a fashion statement. Made from the most opulent of fabrics, each ensemble had an enchantingly unique and fiercely alluring feel to it and most of her ensembles were for the confident city dweller who transitions from cocktails to theatre and on to supper and were guaranteed to identify the inner diva in women.
Wardha Saleem – Dholak
Inspired by the ‘Dholak’, her collection celebrated the traditional mehndi bride. Deeply traditional yet with a modern play of colours and a silhouette that was supremely playful, the collection was a symphony of vibrant colours, intricate techniques and details keeping in line with our rich and vibrant heritage. She perfectly blended the bright hues of fuchsia, radiant oranges, vibrant greens, lustrous blue, passionate plums and rich reds in her own signature style. Beautiful cholis and shimmery ghagras with bird embroideries, hints of truck art, patterned bell bottoms celebrated joy and new beginnings. Light lilacs with greys and kamdani work lent a soft and delicate look a bride to be needs. Angarkhas with deep back necks and beautiful knotted beads, yellow like the summer sun, highlighted and overpowered the colours of bhangra. The men collection consisted of bright Sherwani colours, patterned kurtas in colours of orange and pink. With the music of the dholak and thalis with flowers and candles, Wardah Saleem’s collection replicated the environment of a mehndi, almost enticing the well-heeled audience to get up from their seats and dance.
Emraan Rajput – The Gentleman’s Club
His collection showcased quality menswear as he presented The Gentlemen’s Club that entailed a range of premium suits for the men who like to live life in style. The collection was crafted from the finest fabrics, creating timeless cuts and styles. Classic white coat with big black buttons, clean cut navy blue suits, edgy patterned insides for a sneaky colourful look that were sophisticated yet funky. Along with that, white and light blue checked suits, patterned ties and pocket squares and bow ties added the splash of colour. Most of his outfits were in navy blue, grey, maroon, white and black. The male models wearing Emraan’s collection surely won the hearts of all with their best foot forward on the ramp, they strode with confidence, ready to take over the world and his collection surely proved that no one can beat a man in a suit.
Sadaf Malaterre
Her flamboyant and flirty collection was specifically designed for the young at heart and fashion forward. Ranging from capes and shirts to dresses and pants, the collection mainly incorporated a mélange of wispy dark maroons, blacks and greys, perfect for evening wear. With a nod to the festive season, just round the corner, layered party wear dresses were created using glittery fabrics, spaghetti straps, frills and fringes. Sadaf Malaterre presented a daring collection emphasizing women empowerment through bold colors, tassels and frills, strong cuts and unique silhouettes as part of innovatively crafted jumpsuits and dresses. This was Winter/Festive for Karachi’s mild winter months even though the odd velvet piece hinted at a far colder clime.
HEM – The Royal Majesty
HEM’s collection was a blend of local crafts and experimental techniques. A soft colour palette was used with the purpose of reviving various embellishment techniques that curated different looks perfect for all occasions. It was hard not to pay heed to each of HEM’s dresses as the silver embellishments on the champagne gold and silver dresses, sparkled in the bright lights that surrounded the ramp. Tassels were seen on the hems of a few dresses that were inspired by contemporary trends depicting a subtle romance through each attire. The glamorous ensembles were filled with bead work and completed by fanning frills on the neck and waist. It was obvious that great attention had been paid to each detail, whether it was the work on the neck or the gem work on the front. Each of HEM’s dresses, stunned the audience as the models carried them gracefully.
Deepak Perwani – Gold Dust
Drawing from the heritage of our sub-continent, Deepak Perwani presented ‘Gold Dust’, a collection of exquisite bride and groom wear that is effortlessly timeless, with a nod to modernism in the cuts and melange of colours. The collection entailed smart sherwanis and regal lehenga cholis, which, paired with jewellery by Sherezad, created a wave of nostalgia from the past. The traditional bridal colours; reds and maroons with gold work were used on the dresses shown initially. This was followed by a more subtle version of bridals including lighter colours such as mint green and champagne gold, with intricate silver embellishments on them. Sherwanis for men were mostly plain but they were complemented well by emerald green and maroon shawls that had classic golden work on them. This combination created a unique menswear ensemble, best for a groom on hunt for the perfect wedding attire. Deepak’s magnificent collection generated an almost magical feel at the show, by re-creating trends of the past and perfectly concluded day 2.
