Bollywood director and actor, Farhan Akhtar, has been firm on his decision not to give into the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena’s (MNS) demand of contributing Rs.5 crore to the Indian Army Welfare Fund for featuring a Pakistani artist.
Farhan Akhtar has been threatened to life, for refusing to pay the claimed amount by the political party for his upcoming production ‘Raees’, starring Pakistani actress Mahira Khan.
In an interview, Farhan said, “There is no question of giving Rs.5 crore to the army as they have refused to take any money which seems extorted from the producers.”
His statement came following Karan Johar’s meeting with MNS leader Raj Thackeray, to ensure the safe release of ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’. That so happened by the payment of Rs. 5 crore that Karan Johar donated to the Army Welfare Fund.
However, MNS cine wing president Ameya Khopkar has threatened Farhan Akhtar, as he has bluntly refused to pay the sum. He said that as the film’s date of release comes closer, they will look into it.
