Edhi, the man who had everything and nothing…

Born in a small town of Gujarat, Bantva. Edhi was larger than life. He was a man who understood the pain and had empathy for everyone. Perhaps a caretaker sent by God. No matter how much gratitude and honor we give him on his death anniversary, it will never match the work Edhi has done for our entire nation. He worked selflessly to help those who were rejected by our society and were told they had no one. Edhi is humanity and his religion was humanity. He believed that there is no greater good than doing something for others without a reward. Maybe his reward was the love he got from millions around the world.

The legacy left by Edhi is a way of lifestyle where simplicity and giving others from what you have is the greatest virtue. Presented with numerous awards and rejected his nomination for Nobel peace prize, he believed in modesty and lived his whole life with humility.

Not only humans but he cared for animals as well.  In aworld where humans have become animals and have no empathy, Edhi had a heart for everyone, he used to say” how can I sleep in peace when I know there are people in Pain”. In today’s world where people hardly have time for their parents, this man thought of everybody, this pretty much explains that he had a golden heart.

Today on his death anniversary, we all are showing our gratitude for him but along with this, we should commit ourselves to continue the legacy which Edhi has left with us and take it forward so that it never dies. Let’s become better human beings, let’s become Edhi.
