DJ hosts the ‘Highest Party on Earth’ at Mount Everest

World-known DJ Paul Oakenfold has graced the bone-chilling temperature of the Mount Everest to host the ‘highest party on Earth’. The party was organized at the base with around 100 climbers, who danced the night away in full mountain gear.

The 53-year-old artist spent 10 days to reach the base of the site camp. He rolled the party mood with his throbbing beats on a makeshift stone stage set against the breath-taking beauty of the world’s highest mountains.

On the other hand, dressed in heavy hiking boots and thick down jackets with Tibetan prayer flags overhead, the climbers and trekkers partied as much as they could on the most amazing place of this world.

DJ Oakenfold said:

“It was truly amazing. I feel very lucky to have played here. We did a wonderful event and had people from all over the world. I feel very blessed.”

Oakenfold has never trekked before and had to train for four months before arriving in Nepal, fitting it in between a hectic schedule of late night gigs.

“I m not going to pretend it was easy to get here… but it has been a wonderful trek. If you could see the view I m looking at, it is very inspiring.”

This gig on Mount Everest was among the first in the record producer’s SoundTrek series. The purpose of the series is to invite attention to the effects of global warming and raising money for charities.

Oakenfold has a three-decade long career, in which he has collaborated with music maestros like Madonna and U2. He also raised funds to help survivors of Nepal’s 2015 earthquake, which left almost 9,000 people dead and thousands homeless.

“I want to support in the rebuilding and to shed light on the environment… I would like to do my bit,” he said.
