Disney has released the first official teaser trailer of its upcoming Aladdin live action movie. This new clip arrives just one day after the film’s first poster was unveiled by Will Smith, who will play the Genie.
The teaser trailer cuts straight to the nostalgia by offering an almost frame-by-frame imitation of the original animation’s opening scene, paired with an instrumental of the song “Arabian Nights.” The clip takes us to the Cave of Wonders, whose tiger head announces “only one may enter here” like the original script, and we’re offered a first glimpse of Mena Massoud as Aladdin as he reaches for the Genie lamp.
Aladdin will arrive in theaters on May 24, 2019.
