Clothing guide for overweight men

finding the perfect fit is difficult for anyone, whether you’re looking to buy something for a wedding or just generally buying something for your day to day outfit. finding the right fit is not an easy job. There are a lot of things you need to focus on. The material, the size, the colour everything needs to be focussed on before finding the perfect fit for yourself.

It is not that difficult trust me, but few things make finding the right fit difficult, that is general sizes offered by brands have failed to incorporate and understand the sizes of today’s consumers. People these days have excepted all sorts of body types. the stereotype clothing size; small, medium and large is outdated. people in general now look for brands whose clothes can incorporate people that are obese, short or tall. However, brands do not realize it and probably never won’t because society still runs after those washboard abs and perfect fit. Until then I have figured out few ways to make sure that the overall fit of the clothes goes well with your overweight body.

Go for well-fitted clothes.

It sounds quite opposite of what I mentioned above but there is a reason for it. we tend to think that oversized and baggy clothes will cover-up, but trust me they will look sloppy and look off proportion. on the other hand, tight clothes will not look good as well. finding the clothes that just fit right and are a little loose to cover your belly and tight above the torso is the key.

V-neck t-shirts.

A v-neck collar helps the face and neckline so sharper and long, so look for that collar shape when you’re shopping for t-shirts and sweaters. Crew neck collars, on the other hand, don’t draw the eyes down and can exaggerate a round face shape. pair it up with moderate fit jeans or a nice blazer to look sharp.

Button-up shirt with a widespread collar.

buttons ups shirt comes in various sizes and fit. the key to looking smarter in a button-up shirt is to look for a shirt with widespread collars. This complements your wide shoulders and chest. Instead of narrow collars which can make your face look rounder than usual.

Straight-legged jeans and medium-rise pants.

Straight pants can help balance the proportions of the legs, waist and abdomen. If you have a large belly but small legs, pants with the bottom as wide as your thighs are particularly suitable for you to have an overall good fit.

what you can avoid are those skinny jeans that give you the room on your things but are skinny on the bottom of your legs that gives disproportionate look on your overall appearance.

Shorts.

It is summertime and you want to wear shorts matched up with your favourite Caribbean shirt. there is only one rule you should keep in mind while wearing shorts. that is, your shorts should not go below your knees. why is that so?. it is because when the shorts fall below knees or touch the shins, your legs tend to look shorter and skinnier and waistline looks wider.

choosing the right fabric.

Cargo pants, hoodies, and bulky sweaters made out of thick fabrics can make you look bigger. Cotton, linen, and other light, natural fabrics are good choices. If you sweat a lot, natural fabrics can also help cool you down and prevent sweat stains.

While lighter fabrics are generally preferable, keep in mind you still want your clothes to give your body definition. Fabric that’s too light and clingy won’t drape well over your body.
