The German-born designer known as ‘The Kaiser’ turned Paris’ iconic grand Palais into a computer data centre this Tuesday for a stunning Chanel show which was as retro as it was futuristic.
Designer Karl Lagerfeld made two models wear white robot helmets which lead the fashion house’s collection and later turned out to be the highlight of the Paris Fashion Week: With Chanel’s famous interlacing “C”s logo rendered with computer wires.
When asked if the collection had a slightly 1970’s look; Lagerfeld replied waspishly: “I do collections for today. The ideas of the 1970’s I remember, thank you very much.”
