‘Cake’ became the first Pakistani film ever to premiere at Leicester Square in London

The much-anticipated family story ‘Cake’ became the first Pakistani film ever to premiere at Leicester Square in London.

Directed by Asim Abbasi (Little Red Roses, Whore), and produced by Syed Zulfikar Bukhari, the film stars former supermodel Aamina Sheikh, London-born Sanam Saeed and Adnan Malik. The trio play siblings who come together at a time of need for their aging parents.

Actors Aamina Sheikh, Sanam Saeed, Adnan Malik, Beo Raana Zafar, along with the director Asim Abbasi and producer Syed Zulfikar Bukhari were in attendance.
Saeed said: ‘’Cake’ is a simple, almost traditional and relatable story, that highlights family values and intimate relationship dynamics within a family. It is definitely something South Asians (can) relate to, but the genre also appeals to and resonates with anyone despite their race, religion, sex, or culture.”

Amongst the cast and crew of Cake, Leicester Square’s Vue Cinema also played host to many other attendees including activist Malala Yousafzai, actors Ainy Jaffri and Mahira Khan, and DJ Naughty Boy (Shahid Khan).

Cake is the first ever Pakistani film to premiere at Leicester Square and that too, with such wide media coverage. The film is all set to release in Pakistan on March 30.
