Since the genesis of the #MeToo movement, many a celebrity has come forth to share their experience. Actor and activist, Rose McGowan Actor and activist Rose McGowan quickly turned into one of the most noticeable figures of the #MeToo movement. She is one of many women to allege Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein of rape. Recently, in an Instagram Live session with McGowan, Ayesha Omar also talked about her familiarity with sexual assault.
“Two years ago, I finally allowed myself to acknowledge and talk about my own sexual harassment story by a powerful monster, twice my age. I was this young 23-year-old, fresh out of college, and this started happening. And it went on for years,”
“I put it in a box, and I said okay, this is happening in my life, I have to deal with it. I didn’t wanna share it with anybody. I let it stay there for 15 years,”
According to Ayesha Omar, she hasn’t exposed the name of her abuser but she intends to talk about it someday.
“I will talk about it someday, but not today. I still haven’t named my monster but I’ve started talking about it,”
