The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a notification stating that Prime Minister Imran Khan has appointed Ali Jehangir Siddiqui as Ambassador-At-Large for foreign investment as ofJune 13, 2019.
This appointment comes on the heels of a number of efforts by the PTI government to build the country’s presence on the world stage by brining on board a number of fresh individuals who are experts in their given fields. The inclusion of such persons has allowed the PTI to go beyond a closed group to engage with people based on their skill sets and abilities.
Ali brings with him to the table a varied background in government service, business and social development. He has acted as Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States until last year and prior to that he served as Special Assistant to the Prime Minister with the status of Minister of State. During his tenure as Ambassador to the US, Ali was credited with soothing over Pak-US relations at a critical time, establishing strong linkages with the US Congress and Senate as well as revitalizing the Pakistani diaspora in the United States. In 2014, he was honored by the World Economic Forum as a Young Global Leader.
He is currently on the board of Afiniti the world’s largest privately held Artificial Intelligence company. Afiniti is called a ‘unicorn’ company, one that has broken the one Billion USD valuation ceiling. He serves on the Board alongside notable figures such as David Cameron – former Prime Minister of Great Britain, Adm. William Owens – ex. Vice Chairman US Joint Chiefs of Staff and others.
Taking decisions is not easy and Prime Minister Imran Khan has taken a stand by appointing Ali Siddiqui to this important position. In Pakistan’s hour of need, these kinds of decision-making strengths is what has differentiated Imran Khan from his predecessors.
We hope to see his decision pay off and wish both individuals the best in their respective roles. At the end of the day, no matter the individual the end goal remains one – the best for Pakistan.
In Sha Allah – Naya Pakistan!
