Aksbandh – Job Done Right!

After the revival of Pakistani cinema, paths were open for the directors who always wanted to experiment with the genres but, only certain known genres like action, comedy, romance made their way to the top.

Considering the Pakistani audience there is always a doubt when introducing or experimenting with a new movie genre. People tend to accept Hollywood or Bollywood, but when it comes to Pakistani cinema you don’t really get much appreciation.

Aksbandh – Directed by Emran Hussain with the cast – Ayaz Samoo,  Bilal Yousufzai, Daniyal Afzal Khan, Mahrukh Rizvi , Saud Imtiaz, Shehzeen Rahat & Arshad Ali  is the talk of the town in a very intrigued manner because of its found footage genre certainly did justice to how a horror movie should be. I personally had a 50/50 feeling about the response but after watching it I can say, job done right! A normal budget movie with a new cast was a good idea to pull off an experiment like this.

Though I am not a fan of  horror movies but the 90 minutes duration of the movie kept my curiosity level high with the sound effects and colour grading which created the perfect ambiance of a horror movie. The unscripted dialogues and conversation between friends made it look realistic along with their acting and expressions. Usually such movies have a tinge of comedy which lightens mood a little. The horror scenes were perfectly executed I kept my eyes and ears shut and hid my face in my friends shoulder.

Not to reveal the entire story scene by scene here as I would make sure that all the filmgoers visit the cinema to experience Pakistan’s first found footage film. As the movie was coming to it’s end it gave me an idea that if it would have been in 3D, it would have given a real-time experience to the audience.
