Air Ambulance service to start in JPMC, Karachi

New air ambulance service has been started by Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) in Karachi. This has been started to provide treatment to ill patients residing in far off areas of Sindh and Balochistan who could not reach the city in time for treatments.

Dr Seemin Jamali at JPMC stated that “Now, we can have patients brought through public and private air ambulance services”. The service has started after two decades at JPMC.

With this decision, the CAA has also cleared for the helicopter to land at JPMC and a fire-brigade will be arranged to deal with any unforeseen events.

“The need for having a reinforced helipad at the JPMC reemerged given incidents of explosions in far-flung areas of Sindh and Balochistan. Now patients can be brought to the JPMC within a couple of hours from any area in Sindh and Balochistan,” Dr Jamali added.

She also thanked the provincial government and said that more services in line with international standards are being provided at the JPMC “to facilitate a large number of patients who come to Karachi from entire Pakistan as well as abroad for quality treatment”.

The helipad serves multiple purposes, along with helicopter ambulances the military-grade helicopter and mid-size transport ambulances can also land on it.
