As the sense of insecurity is growing since 6 to 8 months for muslims in India, muslim actors seem to be more in limelight than normal citizens. As Shahrukh Khan was targeted earlier and was advised to leave the country, Aamir Khan after experiencing several incidents also feels insecure and has been alarmed by his wife Kiran Rao to leave the country before things get worse.
He is also virtually supporting those who returned their awards by saying that this is one of the creative ways of people to express their disappointment towards the situation.
While speaking at the Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Awards he said, “As an individual, as part of this country as a citizen, we read in the papers what is happening, we see it on the news and certainly, I have been alarmed. I can’t deny. I have been alarmed by a number of incidents,”
He also stated that every time he starts a conversation with Kiran at home, she suggests that they should move out of India. Even though this is a big statement to make regarding leaving the country they have lived for so long but she fears for her child now and she also fear about what the atmosphere around them will be. Aamir also spoke that a society must have a sense of security and sense of justice.
Aamir was asked whether he endorsed the protests by the people but he said that he would as long as it is non-violent as “all individuals have a right to protest and they can protest in any manner that they feel is right as long as they are not taking the law into their hands.”
