Over these past few years, we have seen the beauty industry shift towards being more inclusive. Yet, even with products that cater to more skin tones, many people are still marginalised. This is where UK-based cosmetics brand Grace beauty comes in, as they cater to underrepresented groups, including people with disabilities.
Most of us have a regular makeup routine, one that could take us five minutes to an hour, but we have never stopped to think of the staples we are using. Our mascaras, eyeliners and lipsticks are all made with able-bodied users in mind. But Grace, with there aim to make beauty accessible for all, have unveiled three versions of a mascara add-on designed to make for easier handling
The beauty brand revealed the designs on Instagram. The first mascara is ‘The Ring Grip’ which can come to anyone’s aid. “When attached you don’t have to hold as hard, nor worry about loosing your grip or picking up the mascara from the floor. The rubberband will tightly connect to most mascaras on the market while the ring will be big enough for even the biggest fingers,” Grace wrote on their Instagram.
The second style is more avant-garde as ‘The Safe Grip’ mascara features a rubber handle. It is easy to hold and gives a wide angled grip and ensures better control for all kinds of users.
The third mascara unveiled is ‘The Square Grip’ which according to their post “attaches to both side of your mascara to make it easy to open, hold and control in a discrete package. Simple, minimal and with a rubbery feeling that will ensure a better grip.”
Not only is the brand looking to make beauty accessible to all, they are also looking for feedback. The brand has been actively asking for their followers input. “What do you think of it? Can it be helpful and do you like the design?” they ask in one post. “This product we’re especially interested to hear your opinion on!” they say in another.
