I Love Work Because…

Work, true to its name really drains us of energy. However, it doesn’t always feel so dreary when you’ve got these factors in play!

A supportive boss

Like having a supportive parent can boost your confidence, having a supportive boss can have the same effect on your morale. Many a times, at work, you develop rivalries with co-workers over work targets and it’s a constant rat-race, trying to get to the finish line. This can be pretty jarring. Having a supportive boss gives you that confidence boost you need, to pursue the new, innovative ideas you may have to improve on the office system, or your own projects. Which in turn, translates into a job well done!

Helpful teammates

Although most people complain about having squabbles with co-workers, some are particularly lucky for having a helpful, and supportive team. To develop that kind of bond with your co-workers where you lift each other up, is difficult, and a rare occurrence. However, once you’ve found a team like that, there’s no stopping you from achieving goals that would’ve seemed out of your reach if you were all alone in your endeavors.

Punctuality

I know, I know! I sound like a teacher’s pet when I say that, but it really does help to be on time everyday and adhere to a carefully mapped out schedule. Granted sometimes things go haywire and your schedule gets knocked out of whack, but it helps to plan things out meticulously so that if things aren’t going perfectly, you know what steps to take to make sure they don’t completely blow up in your face. This in turn results in you having more control over your emotions and your targets, boosting your morale!

Achieving little goals

There are many targets that are set for you by the company you work for, but there is sometime a little more important that those. It’s the targets you set for yourself that really motivate you to try harder and do better. Setting small targets for yourself everyday helps a great deal with self-esteem. Even though you may be struggling with that big client pitch that’s due in a couple days, you wont feel completely useless because you would still be achieving the little goals you set for yourself, like getting in that hour of exercise before coming into work, or perhaps finishing daily tasks in a lesser amount of time than you did a couple weeks ago, or perhaps even finding a few hours everyday to work on that difficult pitch and getting in your stride with the progress you’re making on it. Remember, practice makes perfect!

Getting paid well

Not to sound materialistic or anything, but we all work to make a living and improve the quality of our lives. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with wanting a little extra dough to make all that effort you put into your work, worth it. From what I hear, a wise person once said,

“If you’re good at something, never do it for free,”

and by golly they were so right! Getting paid a handsome salary can really be a morale booster because it makes you feel valued, like your boss knows your worth and is willing to go that extra mile to keep you around!

When your voice Is heard

It is truly a very special feeling when your opinions and recommendations are valued at work. When your boss asks you what you think about the new product your company is signing on, or how well you think that new kid is doing, and actually taking into consideration the feedback you give, it truly is liberating and enables you to have more confidence in yourself. Stuff like this the reason you work so hard and attain expertise in your field of work, to be taken seriously. When it actually starts happening, you know you must be doing SOMETHING right, enabling you to have more faith in your instincts.

Make sure you feel at least some of these motivational factors in play at your workplace to ensure that you have a healthy professional environment & you will surely succeed!
