Nestlé’s pot of good initiatives is always bubbling!

We know that there is a scarcity of job opportunities in the market. Partially, because not all industries are growing or we don’t have the right set of skills to bag jobs we dream of.

Food industry, on the other hand, has just been growing and looks promising, because we love food, so it’s here to stay! But Pakistan’s food industry faces difficulties due to lack of skillful chefs.

To increase employability, Nestlé just launched YOCUTA, theirGlobal Youth Initiative, in Pakistan. Short for Young Culinary Talents, the program is focused on providing guidance and direction to young chefs in the making. The first workshop of this initiative began last month, in collaboration with COTHM. 40 students were selected for this dessert workshop and they were given trainings by accomplished chefs.

Such programs are the need of the hour. While most individuals have ample talent, there is no one to groom them and show them the ropes to becoming extraordinary.

YOCUTA is bound to change that. The atmosphere of the workshop was quite charged and each student was wholly committed to bringing their A-game to the kitchens. Once the training was over, 8 teams were made who competed against each other. Out of these 8, 3 teams were given trophies for their outstanding performances while appreciation certificates were distributed among all students and the training staff.

Samer Chedid, Managing Director, Nestlé Pakistan, while sharing his views about the initiative said, “This program is in line with our global commitment to help 10 million young people access opportunities by 2030. Through YOCUTA initiative, we will be offering training, practical skills and knowledge in important areas like professionalism, basic culinary skills and a background knowledge of the social issues affecting the food service environment. I am delighted that as a first step we were able to train more than 40 talented students and we hope to reach out to many more aspiring chefs in Pakistan in the future.”

Abdullah Jawaid, Business Executive Officer (BEO), Nestlé Professional, said, “YOCUTA is more than just a one-time event. It is, in fact, a commitment to our communities to create more opportunities for young people, while supporting the future needs of the food service industry. This initiative will help us play our role in empowering the youth of Pakistan to gain access to employment and enhance their career in the food service industry.”

All we have to say is, keep up the good work!
