Netflix brings together four leading Directors for another desi show for the horror fans

Zoya Akhtar, Anurag Kashyap, Karan Johar and Dibakar Banerjee are directing a horror anthology for Netflix India.

The title similarity makes sense since the four big-shots for this new series are the same ones who worked on the previous one.

While the plot details have not been revealed, we know that the four short films – directed by each of the directors – will be connected by one broader theme ending in a goose bumps-inducing mutual climax for Ghost Stories.

“I have always been mortified to watch the horror genre and have always stayed very far away from any ghost story! So to direct one is not only hugely challenging but also exceptionally exciting,” said Karan Johar.

According to Zoya Akhtar, “As a writer/director, I thrive on bending genres and inverting tropes and I am so looking forward to attempting that with a ghost story.”

We’ve been deprived of good quality horror for a while now because let’s be honest, the local film industries have been very bad at producing horror movies/shows throughout the last few decades.

India produced its Pari starring Anushka Sharma which sunk despite its star-studded cast. We also came up with our very own Pari which was no better. Will Ghost Stories defy this pattern?

A release date has not been published, but the anthology is said to go into production this month.
