‘Happy to see PSL in Pakistan’, Shaniera Akram welcomes foreign stars

Shaniera Akram, wife of former Pakistan skipper and incumbent Karachi Kings president Wasim Akram, took to Twitter to welcome the international cricketing stars coming to Pakistan for the fourth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Household names such as Shane Watson, Colin Munro, Colin Ingram, Luke Ronchi and Darren Sammy will be seen in action at the National Stadium of Karachi in the upcoming 10 days for their respective PSL sides.

“Today, some of the world’s top cricketers step on to our soil, not just to play cricket but to show the world that Pakistan is worth it,” she said in a tweet.

“They know playing cricket with us is so much more than just a game, it’s a huge contribution to our country’s future.”

In another tweet, Shaniera had welcomed Australian compatriot Watson to Pakistan but had joked that the arrival of the Quetta Gladiators all-rounder does not bode well for Karachi Kings, with the sides set to clash in their next encounter.

“We are thrilled to host you in Pakistan again. By the way, if you thought we were passionate about cricket last time you were here, wait till you see us now,” she added.
