“Kung Fu Panda 3” Leads For A Second Weekend In A Row.

DreamWorks Animation’s ‘Kung Fu Panda 3’ topping the box office. The animated sequel added $21 million to its $69 million domestic tug. The film is playing well in China, where it is being distributed by Oriental Dream Works.

Fox’s second weekend of DreamWorks Animation’s “Kung Fu Panda 3” took in $48 million in its first week.

It crossed the $100 million mark in the People’s Republic this weekend after opening day-and-date in the U.S. and China on Jan. 29. It grossed another $18 million from four other international markets including Russia with $5.1 million and South Korea with$11.4 million  for a worldwide opening of $116 million.

The China results included $3.8 millon on 272 Imax screens, setting a new opening weekend Imax record for an animated title, topping the $2.9 million from “How to Train Your Dragon 2.”

“Kung Fu Panda 3” was by far the top performer on the international side during the weekend with Fox’s “The Revenant” in second with $24.3 million in 62 markets, lifting its foreign total to $136 million with the U.K. leading the way with $23.5 million. The worldwide total for the Leonardo DiCaprio saga has hit $274 million.
