Return of the Samurai

Long ago in a distant lank I, Aku – the shape shifting Master of Darkness unleashed an unspeakable evil. But a foolish Samurai Warrior wielding a magic sword stepped forth to oppose me; before the final blow was struck, I tore open a portal in time and flung him in to future where my evil is law. Now the fool seeks to return to the past and undo the future that is Aku.

To this day, when I hear these words I get giddy as a child. Growing up Samurai Jack was the kind of cartoon that would fix my mood immediately, the personality of Hack was one of the main reasons the show resonated with me so much. His endless hope to get back home, his undying will to rid the world of the evil, which is Aku was commendable. As a child, these traits really got me hooked to the show.

The show has been picked for a fifth season by Adult Swim and they have given it a bit of a dark turn, showing Jack in a different light.

Our humble and hopeful Samurai has all but lost his mind. 50 years have passed and Jack due to the curse of Aku does not age, nor does he hope anymore and to make things more interesting, Jack has lost his magic sword and Aku has fathered children. I, for one, am very excited to see what lies ahead of this.
