Remembering Nazia Hassan on her 52nd birthday

Pop music queen Nazia hassan was born on 3rd April, 1965 in Karachi and today marks her 52nd birthday.

We still remember her smiling face, engaging style and melodious voice. Nazia started her career from PTV program ‘Kaliyon Ki Mala’ and introduced Western style in music for the first time.

She got real fame from the movie Qurbani’s song “aap jaisa koi meri zindagi mein aaye to baat ban jaye”. Her first album ‘Disco Deewane’ was released in 1982, which was a super hit and the teenagers still listen to this song. Her brother Zohaib Hassan always stood with her and supported her fully.

She was the first Pakistani singer who got the Filmfare Award and became the youngest award winning singer in best female playback singer’s category, she still has this honour.

Suffering from lung cancer, she died at the age of 35 in London hospital on 13 August, 2000.

She married Ishtiag Baig and had a son from him.

Nazia Hassan may have lost the battle with cancer, but she will always remain alive in our hearts. Nazia Hassan, you will always be missed and remembered for your brilliant performance and artistic contributions.
