Enough with the bullying! This ‘Muslim Girl’ finds a way to talk back

Islamophobia is in rise, around the world, and it has become enormously difficult for women to go about the day without crossing the hurdles being set by the extremists. In the midst of this all, there are some inspirational ladies who have found ways to break the barriers and set new standards of “breaking the stereotypes”. Amani al-Khatahtbeh is one such encouragement for the women standing up against bullying.

Al-Khatahtbeh is a Jersey girl who spent her childhood playing by the shore, however, the vicious 9/11 attack left her to become a victim of extensive Islamophobic bullying. Her family’s home was vandalized, her father’s beachfront business was threatened with eviction, and her classmates tormented her constantly. But, through thorns and bushes, al-Khatahtbeh found a way to make a difference and she learned HTML and coding, all alone. This is how she started her website “Muslim Girl”.

Muslim Girl is the haven for all the other Muslim women who are going through or got through the same experience.

Today, al-Khatahtbeh has turned Muslim Girl into a booming company. She has collaborated with Teen Vogue, spoken at the Cannes Lions festival, and been featured on Forbes’s 30 Under 30 List.

Way to go girl! Keep the tiger prowess; your life is as inspirational as the work you do.
