An image broke out on digital media featuring Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi among the ‘Top 10 Criminals’, alongside underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, Al Capone, Joseph Kony and Al Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri.
With the sudden out-roar, Google received a court notice fron the state department upon which the company replied that the search results shown appearing were not under Googles operations; “These results don’t reflect Google’s opinion or our beliefs; our algorithms automatically matched the query to web pages with these images.”
According to Indian media reports, a Google spokesperson said; “These results trouble us and are not reflective of the opinions of Google. Sometimes, the way images are described on the internet can yield surprising results to specific queries.”
Google on the query upon the results of the “Top 10 Criminals” said that it was because of an British daily agency, which had an image of PM Narendra Modi along with erroneous metadata.
