Pakistani city to be honoured with prestigious International Award

Pakistan might be turtle-paced, but, it is slowly indulging itself into the race of the most developed countries worldwide. While, urbanization has been the suo motto of the governments; there are many who honour the need to prosper in landscape.

Asian Townscape  International Award, every year, is given in the honour of those developing cities which are striving to provide a healthy and a better life for its citizens.

UN-Habitat Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific in cooperation with Asian Habitat Society, Fukuoka Asian Urban Research Center, and Asia Townscape Design Society are organizing the awards this year.

The  International Award ceremony is planned to be held in Yinchan City, China on 29th October 2016.

This time around, the international and the most acclaimed jury has selected Pakistan’s beautiful city Peshawar and its project titled “City Beautification and Uplift Programme”.

The jubilant news was delivered to the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa via an official letter from the notable jury.

The steps taken by the KPK Government under the “Beautification and Uplift Programme” received massive praise from the members of the jury; and that is why they chose Peshawar over all the other Asian cities to credit with the accolade. The program has about 30 sub-projects which have been completed or are about to be.

From beautifying the city to tourists spots, recreational centres, parks, restoration of monuments and historical buildings, ferry services on River Kabul, promotion of sports, and much more has been done and dusted under the project.

We all are proud of the KPK Government and the organizations for making Pakistan stand tall and beautiful in the face of the world. Thank You!
