THE ERA OF QUEEN ELIZABETH!

Your Highness Queen Elizabeth was the Queen of UK that is United Kingdom from 6th of February, 1952. Her reign of 70 years and 214 days was the longest of any British Monarch. And the second-longest recorded of any Monarch of a sovereign country. In 2015, she surpassed Victoria to become the longest-reigning monarch in British history.

Queen Elizabeth was the eldest daughter of Prince Albert, who was the Duke of York. The Princess Elizabeth’s education was supervised by her Mother, who entrusted her daughters to a governess Marion Crawford. During World War II she and her sister, Princess Margaret Rose, perforce spent much of their time safely away from the London blitz and separated from their parents, living mostly at Balmoral Castle. Earlier in 1947, Princess Elizabeth went with the King and the Queen to South Africa. After her return, she received a betrothal to her distant cousin Lieutenant Philip Mountbatten of the Royal Navy. The marriage took place in Westminister Abbey on 20th of November, 1947. Later Princess Elizabeth gave birth to her first child Prince Charles, born on 14th of November 1948, at Buckingham Palace.

After three months full of mournings for her father’s death. Elizabeth moved from Clarence House to Buckingham Palace in summer. She undertook the routine duties of the sovereign and carried out her first date opening of Parliament on 4th of Nov, 1952. Her coronation was held at WestMinister Abbey on 2nd of June, 1953. On the accession of Queen Elizabeth, her son Prince Charles became heir apparent. He was named as ‘Prince of Wales’ on 26th of July, 1958.

The Queen’s other children were Princess Anne, born on 15th of August, 1950. And became Princess Royal. Later Prince Andrew was born on 19th of February, 1960 and became the Duke of York in 1986. Then Prince Edward was born on 10th of March, 1964. And created Earl of Wessex and Viscount Severn in 1999. All these children have the surname ‘of Windsor’.

But later the Queen decided to create the hyphenated name MountBatten-Windsor for other descendants not styled Prince or Princess and Royal Highness.
