It’s okay not to be okay!

The sole reason I took the step towards being vocal about something like this, roots from personal experience. I was quite intrigued due to the lack of knowledge regarding various mental health concerns such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, sensory overload etc as well as immense disregard towards emotional abuse, victim blaming and toxic behaviour. 

The past decade certainly has been a journey within itself and after battling most of those hurdles alone, I felt the best way to heal from it is to heal together. Not only did I want to help people recognise their worth and prevent them from vulnerable situations but also aim to teach them to differentiate between the habits that one needs to step towards a healthy mind and content life. Sometimes life has a strange way of testing the strongest and most resilient souls and it causes us to start lagging in day to day activities and we tend to lose that lust for life. Most of the time, such instances drain us out mentally, physically and spiritually and we eventually start doubting our own capabilities. We all need appreciation, positive reinforcement and to know that somebody believes in us, trusts us or recognises our worth. 

When we receive that helping hand,

it enables a whole world of possibilities within us, gives us purpose, sense of direction and makes us want to continue doing what we do or believe in even if it means small simple steps. Eventually those small steps lead to major things. 

I remember being a mess, I remember trying to carry all the burden on my shoulders crumbling beneath the weight, not asking for help, my uncle told me “IT’S OKAY TO NOT BE OKAY. This is a phrase I strongly, preach, advocate and believe in. 

Once I accepted and stopped fighting it, it allowed me to progress onto how to control or find sustainable solutions to handle situations. I started being less harsh on myself which was the most important step towards healing. 

When we start acknowledging the issue or receiving support, we are highly likely to perform better. Human connection and nature are a wonderful thing, it leads to so many possibilities. One of them is the power to heal. Here we will learn to embrace that power and make the most of it. 

This is a step towards hopefully a major change in how we perceive mental health and what we can do to contribute and improve our surroundings for those in need. I hope and wish this is the start to a wonderful and never ending chain of support, inspirational excerpts, spreading smiles and sharing our milestones.
