Winters are right around the corner and in this season we may rejoice in the thrill of snow, sledding, skiing, and hot cocoa by a crackling fire. There is no doubt that the season is quiet and magical, but one downside is that it can also take its toll on our skin. Here are few products which you need to prepare yourself for this winter.
Face Wash
No matter which product you use, cleansing is a must-follow first step in skincare. This has to be followed through the year irrespective of the season. Switch to creamy cleanser instead foaming cleansers, it may seem like a small thing, but “swapping a foaming cleanser for a creamy one is often all it takes to help skin adjust to colder, drier weather,” says Joshua Zeichner, the director of cosmetic and clinical research in dermatology at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City.
Facial Moisturizer
As a general rule, creams hydrate better than lotions because the ingredients that make them creamy also form a physical barrier that traps moisture in skin. Or use raw coconut oil for best results.
Eye Cream
Since the skin around the eyes is thin, the extra hydration really plumps up fine lines. So don’t forget to take a little extra care of your under eyes this winter.
Face Scrubs
Sloughing off dry patches with a traditional face scrub is a short-term fix that can actually backfire by irritating skin and causing flakes to come back or worsen. Try rubbing facial oil over skin until flakes come off—and since oil doesn’t make skin red the way scrubs can, it helps makeup go on better, too.
Lip Balm
Tinted lip balms have lots of perks—it’s just that treating seriously dry, chapped lips isn’t one of them. In fact, if your favorite lip balm is scented, it could be drying out your lips even more. Switch to a basic, unscented lip balm like Nivea Lip Butter.
Body Moisturizer
We know body moisturizer is boring to put on but this should be essential part of your daily routine especially in winters try to find one that smells good, you’ll actually look forward to applying it. Keep an eye out for body butters, especially ones that are so rich you can turn the tub upside down without any cream falling out—perfect for rehabbing dry patches.
Defrizzer
Your hair isn’t puffy now that summer is over (yay!) but with less moisture in the air, it’s probably limp and staticky. Replace your usual defrizzer with hair oil that smooths the hair without giving you a drowned-rat look. Rub a few drops through the ends when they’re wet and on unruly spots after they’re dry.
