There is no doubt that whenever HUM TV organizes an event, celebrities never fail show up!
Be it in Karachi or Lahore, HUM TV has once again proved their strength by gathering the whole industry in the City of Gardens, Lahore this time. After a very long wait, Lahore has witnessed a night to remember and HUM TV has proved that there is no Karachi and Lahore lobby, HUM is a pure Pakistani channel.
From management to execution, there were no such big flaws to be mentioned. The event was much better as compared to all the recent award shows, and none of the performances was below average. Shehroz Sabzwari & Sarish Khan, Mehwish Hayat, Reema Khan, Ahsan Khan & Kubra Khan; they all performed well and by the looks of it, it was all well-rehearsed. But there was one performance that we loved the most and will remain in our hearts – a special tribute to (late) Junaid Jamshed, given by his two sons Taimur and Babar along with Salman Ahmed.
Seating arrangements were much better when compared to last year, as there should be a difference between freelance blogger and a publication house. The day was saved because of free Wi-Fi service; otherwise if we were relying on our 3Gs then we would have been doomed! Of course, when you are organizing such a big event then it is obvious to have some technical problems, but this year it was very well monitored. The grand set and lighting on-stage and floor were well synchronized and we must appreciate the technical staff for their efforts.
Since everybody thanked President Hum network Sultana Siddiqui, Duraid Qureshi & Momina Duraid, former supermodel and now a choreographer Vaneeza Ahmed mentioned a very important name – Maimoona, who worked hard day and night to execute the whole show. Vinnie we love you for this! And how can people forget the amazing PR team, well… let me take this opportunity to thank them for managing our stay, travel and food at its best. Applause Mr. Minhas and Nasar.
Having said that, the event overall went really well, but there were few misses too. Uhm… No we are not saying that we missed Mahira and Fawad, despite she got an award too. There are few other awards that we are a bit confused about.
The most impactful character went to Bushra Ansari for Udaari. Well, there’s no doubt that she is a living legend but this wasn’t exactly the most impactful character, she has done far amazing roles than the one in Udaari. She should have got “Contribution to the Drama Industry.” No? Nonetheless, we love Bushra Ansari but Aisha Rao Khan should have won, for making Jeena ‘a meme’ all over the social media – kyun k Jeena kay tou Maa Baap bhi nahi hain. Best Actor female, Mahira Khan for Bin Roye? Wasn’t that a film and then converted into a drama? Okay never mind, she did act well. One more thing which confused us was that the serial Sang e marmar just ended few weeks ago, how can they count it for 2016? Maybe we are wrong, but this needs to be clarified.
Lifetime achievement award went to Farida Khanam, it is the best decision ever and even better that she actually sang live, what an amazing moment. Hareem came out as an amazing host and we couldn’t believe that she was doing it for the first time. Rests were Nadia Khan, Mikaal, Yasir Hussain, Ahmed Ali Butt and Ali Rehman. The night surely belonged to Udaari and Sang e Marmar as both of the dramas bagged all the prominent awards.
If it is to be sum up in a sentence, 5th HUM Awards were an epitome of entertainment, fun, celebration and honouring those who worked yearlong to entertain the masses and deliver their message through HUM TV far and wide. If every year, the channel is going to organize the event in a same manner, we couldn’t resist but appreciating them more than ever. We are already excited for as to what the next year has in store for us.
