5 TV Shows on Netflix With Tough Female Characters

The stories revealed through a women’s perspective are worth telling. Female-centric shows are important and it can grasp attention of people all over the world. Audience of these sort of shows is eager to watch women in a significant role.

1. How to Get Away with Murder 

How to Get Away with Murder is about Annalise Keating who is a criminal defense attorney and also teaches defense law, a class named “How to get away with Murder”. Therefore, She chooses five students from her class to learn and work with her in the real world. Keating got an ambiguous and captivating personality and the way she shows her fearsome Behaviour in court that she proves her point despite any argument.

2. Orange is the New Black (2013)

Orange is the New Black aired in 2013. The show focuses on stories of women who are serving time in jail and this show is also defamed for showing prodigious image of violence. It starts with a character named Piper Kerman as she goes to prison for money laundering. But as the show proceeds, the focus moves away from Piper to show the stories of other prisoners. Orange is the New Black is well known for showing many inmates and their backstories superbly from which some characters have become prime characters. There are some humorous characters such as, Red (my favorite), Suzanne, Cindy, Taystee who have changed and grown into remarkable individuals in the time while in prison. They have a different perspective of looking at the world.

3. Jessica Jones

As her career as a super-hero comes to an end due to a calamity she starts her Detective agency which solves cases of people who have special abilities. Jessica Jones has a tough and fierce character. She also suffers from Post-traumatic stress disorder. After experiencing some painful episodes in her life, she is still resilient and always finds her way back.

4. Orphan Black 

Orphan Black is a Thriller series which focuses on a women named Sarah who is British. Sarah and her brother are orphans and are taken under wing by a women who takes them to North America. Sarah witnessed Beth’s suicide who look exactly like her. Sarah’s life is forever changed when Sarah steals Beth’s identity and starts living her life but gets stuck in a controversial crisis. She finds out that Beth was her clone. Through a concept of cloning, this show deals with a women’s right to their body. However, There is a mix of female characters from different walks of life.

5. GLOW 

Glow puts women empowerment in spotlight. The show revolves around Ruth Wilder living in Los Angeles in the 1980s. She gets a startling chance to enter in a world of Women’s wrestling. With Wilder, there are 12 other female characters. Above all, it shows independent, tough, hard-headed and witty women.
