2021 – An ending note.

Hello everyone, 2021 has almost come to an end and we are living in stressful times, an age where we all may have experienced some mental health issues due to societal pressures, toxic relationships, stagnant environment, academics, capitalism etc.

Mental health has mostly been disregarded in history but the stigmas attached have reduced due to the power of social media and ability to keep a check on accountability.

However, many individuals are unable to be as vocal or address their issues like some of us, it is highly essential to remind them and break these taboos, lay emphasis on mental well-being as much as our society tells us to prioritise material well-being.

Keeping up with expectations such as; obtaining unrealistic results, to securing the highest position in a firm and marrying the perfect better half, it becomes impossible for many people to acknowledge how the environment affects their mental health and eventually leads to depression, anxiety, loss of life. It is only then we understand what a person may have been going through and how important it is to start vocalising our thoughts, fears and reaching out as well as offering support, after they leave, which is so heart wrenching.

I lost many loved ones due to mental health issues. It was quite tough to go through labels such as crazy, attention seeker and hearing statements that disregard ones mental well-being and the ignorance from people was ridiculous. I learnt through what I experienced and once I had the opportunity of being vocal about it with my peers, it led to a pathway for an exchange of our thoughts, victories, fears and saw the ways strong people around me were coping. It gave me hope. Not only was it inspiring to learn their journeys, but also made me feel that not all is lost.

Childhood trauma, emotional abuse, bad relationships, loss of loved ones, substances abuse, to toxic environment and pressures from societal restraints leads to immense burden sometimes and we need to normalise talking about it. Only then can we help and estabilish a stronger understanding and community.

These experiences inspired me to speak about what is considered taboo and create a platform that can help with that. Offering a support system and acknowledgment.

Wishing so much patience, peace and healing for the individuals fighting their wars, families struggling and anyone that has gone through adversity and did not receive the expected support.

May we attain more strength, more power, more awareness and my heart goes out to all those that find the courage to keep going on no matter how low they feel. They need to remember it’s okay to not be okay. It’s okay to ask for help. Remember to keep a check on your loved ones. Keep fighting, there’s hope out there. You are worth alot more. Please don’t give up.

Until next time.
