It won’t be all about the glitz and glamour at this year’s Golden Globe ceremony.
The #MeToo campaign has done more than create necessary conversation — it has started a movement. The awareness around sexual misconduct has reached far and wide, but its next stop looks like it will be the Golden Globes red carpet.
With the current political climate and Hollywood’s ongoing sexual harassment scandal, viewers can expect more than a few celebrities to use their platform at this year’s awards show to spread an important message.
The women of Hollywood would be clamoring to find the perfect headline-grabbing dress for the red carpet. Instead, many are planning to sport basic black to Sunday’s gala — a sartorial protest over sexual harassment.
Jessica Chastain, Meryl Streep and Emma Stone are leading the actresses taking a stand against the avalanche of misconduct allegations that have felled Harvey Weinstein and numerous other Tinseltown A-listers.
But backing for the campaign by male stars including Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson — who say they, too, will turn out in black in a gesture of solidarity has raised eyebrows and prompted ridicule.
Ilaria Urbinati, a celebrity stylist who has worked with Johnson and other male clients such as Tom Hiddleston and Garrett Hedlund, also took to her Instagram to reveal that all of her male clients will be joining the movement on the Golden Globes red carpet.
Kudos to the celebrities who are stepping forward and supporting the Me Too movement on the Golden Globes red carpet and beyond.
