We all lose our cool from time to time. The world around us doesn’t help things either. But are you someone who loses your cool way too quickly? Are you prone to getting annoyed at the smallest things? If you answered these questions in the affirmative without a moment’s hesitation, then you will relate to these 10 things.
1. You snap a lot only to regret it soon after
As much as you would like to have a filter installed inside your head, your snapping is not your most admirable trait. You soon regret your mistake and blame it on a ‘bad day’, which is literally five days out of the week.
2. It’s very easy to trigger you
You may appear cool-as-a-cucumber but when rubbed the wrong way, your pressure points give in. It’s so easy to trigger you that you speed up from getting mad to exhibiting murderous rage. And you often wonder: is it me or is everyone deliberately trying to push my buttons?
3. Mentally counting one to ten never helps
Neither does squishing the smiley ball in your hand. In fact, nothing you do works. You usually give up by the time you reach …4 and god save us all, nothing annoys you more than counting to hundred.
4. You imagine beating the shit out of people
Even when you are not lashing out, you are imagining biting someone’s head off. The red haze pops thought bubbles over your head, each illustrating a scenario of how you can channel your anger. And each is scarier than the last.
5. You need to have the last word every time
You are a wreck when you are angry and don’t get to have the last word in a fight. There are just too many points left unsaid, right? Wrong! You have miles to go before you learn to control your anger and hold your tongue.
6. You sometimes leave the scene to calm your nerves
It seldom happens, but it happens. The setting usually works wonders because you know you can’t afford to lose your cool in a family function or at work. So the best way out for you is to walk away.
7. You try to be nice
You often confuse being nice and playing nice especially if the other person’s a douche. You can’t be nice to someone you don’t like. You try to play nice but soon recognise the rising anger inside your belly.
8. You apologize a lot
You ask for do-overs. You ensure making up for your mistakes especially with your loved ones. You hate hurting your pals but since the anger gets better off you, you apologise profusely.
9. You try super hard to not do any of the above
You just want to be the nice person you are without the embers constantly burning inside. You try your best to avoid all conflict and just be normal. You know you will win one day.
10. You hate being mad, TBH
But above all, you hate yourself for losing your temper so often. All your effort at mending your ways goes back to square one. All you want is to stay true to your happy self and bid goodbye to your evil shadow self.
But hey, all is not lost. Try taking life less seriously and treat it as a joke instead. It may or may not work, but all that matters is that you keep trying.
